Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the commissioning process like—from initial idea to delivery?
We begin with a design consultation to understand your vision. You’ll see sketches, choose your materials, and stay involved throughout. Each piece is handcrafted with care and delivered or installed seamlessly.
2. How long does a bespoke commission take?
Timelines vary depending on complexity. Smaller items may take a few weeks, while larger furniture or fitted cabinetry projects may take several months. A clear timeframe is provided during consultation.
3. Do I need to have a fully formed design in mind?
Not at all. Some clients bring detailed ideas, while others only bring inspiration images or functional needs. We’ll guide you through the design process and create drawings to help you visualise your piece.
4. How much does a bespoke piece cost?
Pricing depends on size, materials, and level of detail. During consultation, we provide clear estimates and, where possible, offer different budget-conscious options without compromising quality.
5. Which types of materials and finishes are available?
Choose from hardwoods like walnut, oak, maple, and premium veneers. Finishes range from natural oil to matte or high-gloss lacquer.
6. Do you work with clients’ own materials or reclaimed wood?
Where feasible, yes. If you’d like to incorporate a sentimental piece of timber or sustainably reclaimed wood, we’ll assess suitability for your project.
7. Can I request specific details such as marquetry, inlays, or hidden storage?
Yes! Ornamental details, personalisation, and clever functionality are all part of the bespoke offering.
8. What’s the difference between bespoke and made-to-order shop items?
Bespoke commissions are entirely tailored to your needs. Shop items are pre-designed but made-to-order with the same craftsmanship, offering quicker turnaround and easier access to Noah’s work. These can all be customised, should you prefer a different size/timber.
9. Can you show examples of previous work?
Yes, our portfolio includes custom tables, fitted cabinetry, poker and jewellery boxes, ecclesiastical furniture, desks, and more. Take a look here.
