Celebrating the wonder and beauty of wood

I am Noah Morris, a furniture maker working mainly with wood. I have a workshop in the heart of the city of Worcester where I design and make a variety of beautiful things. These range from simple every day items such as chopping boards and trays, to gifts such as jewellery boxes or mirrors, to larger bespoke furniture pieces.

Dovetails

I love dovetail joints! They are such an attractive and functional joint, it is a shame that they are often hidden away. This lead me to designing the Dovetailed coffee table. This table celebrates the joint by making it the focal point of the design. This table is my piece of the month, to see more about it and get one of your own follow the link below!

  • The Maker's Table

A table to commemorate the incredible career of a local Worcestershire based woodworker. My client asked me to create a table using one of his favourite old tools, his hand plane. I decided to use the plane as a central stand, keeping as much of the character and maker's marks as possible. The nose of the plane became the centre piece of the table as it bares the maker's name. The rest of the table top mimics the angles and round-over of the nose itself. A double bevel on the base that matches the wedge holding the blade in place completes the design. It was an honour to design and make this piece, allowing him and his love of woodworking to be remembered by his family and friends for years to come.

  • Side Table and Lounge Box

This set was designed to sit either side of the client's sofa. One has a lift-up lid for extra storage space. The burr walnut top is book-matched to create a stunning kaleidoscope effect on the top.

  • Oak coffee table

This coffee table was designed in keeping with the minimalist style of furnitre already in the clients living space. The table is made from white oak and finished with a hard wax oil.

  • Crowle Church paneling

This solid oak panneling was made for a local grade ll* listed church to match existing paneling. Made from solid oak and joined together using traditional mortice and tennon joinery.

  • Book Case Pair

Bespoke pair of book cases designed to sit either side of the clients piano to provide an attractive storage solution. The client chose to have an Oak worktop which offeres an eye catching break in colour and finishes off the piece well.

Besoke units made to flank the chimney breast in this beautiful victorian dinning room. The units make great use of the space either side of the chimney breast to offer some attracive easy access storage.

  • Chef's knife box

This slimline box was created for a client’s set of prized Japanese Yaxall Chef’s knives. The frame and lid are made of beautiful Rosewood allowing the beauty of the wood’s grain to show to effect and they were shaped to compliment the style of the knives inside. Each knife has its own tailored mould lined with black baize.

  • Bespoke canoe paddles

A pair of personalised paddles made in ash. The perfect gift for a wonderful couple.

  • Bespoke boards

These three boards are made from American Black Walnut which was selected for its rich, dark colouring and beautiful grain. The three boards are designed to interlock for larger social gatherings to display food with style and elegance. The design allows for the grain to run through all three boards when interlocked, creating a seamless effect that would create a stunning center piece for any table.
