Trainee Furniture Maker
We are a small bespoke furniture workshop in Wickhamford, and we’re looking for the right person to join us to assist in the production of high-end bespoke furniture.
This is a rare opportunity to work in a hands-on environment where every piece is different. One week you might be working on beautifully finished boxes or small stock items, the next you’ll be involved in large-scale residential fitted furniture or freestanding statement pieces.
Who this role is for:
This role is ideal for someone with a genuine interest in woodworking, who already has some woodworking experience (college, hobbyist, workshop, or similar) and wants to take the next step toward a career in furniture making. You don't need to know everything - full training will be provided.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Takes pride in accuracy and detail
- Is curious, eager to learn, and asks good questions
- Follows instructions carefully and accurately
- Is reliable, punctual, and respectful of tools and materials
- Has initiative and doesn’t wait to be told every next step
- Has the physical fitness to undertake heavy lifting and stand for extended periods
What you’ll gain:
- Real, practical experience in bespoke fine furniture making
- Exposure to the full process: from solid timber preparation to fine finishing
- Mentorship in a workshop where quality matters more than speed
- Your own designated work bench
Duties
- Assist with the manufacture and assembly of furniture using hand tools and power tools
- Learn to operate various woodworking machinery safely and efficiently
- Support in joinery tasks, including cutting, shaping and fitting
- Participate in the preparation of pieces including measuring, marking, and cutting
- Help with finishing tasks such as sanding, staining, and applying protective coatings
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment
- Assist with heavy lifting of materials and finished products to ensure smooth workflow
Location: Based in Wickhamford, so you’ll need to be able to commute reliably.
Pay: In line with the UK National Minimum Wage
3–5 days per week (happy to discuss)
To apply: Please send a short introduction about yourself, your woodworking experience, and why this role appeals to you along with your CV to info@noahmorrisbespoke.co.uk. Photos of past work are very welcome.
